Effective Coaching For Youths (Day 1)

Course Overview

Learn how to effectively coach young individuals through our one-day course as we cover coaching fundamentals for personal development, mentoring and guidance. By implementing a structured approach and framework into developing a life-coaching programme for youths, you would be able to distinguish the benefits and range of limitations that coaching can offer to youths. Join us today as we explore the various aspects on how to effectively coach youths!

The course aims to provide the participants with the following knowledge and skills:

  • Understand the role of a life-coach for young individuals and the role of coaching in personal development
  • To distinguish the features of coaching vis a vis other forms of guidance (such as mentoring, counselling, etc)
  • Learn how to use a structured coaching format and its related processes to develop a life-coaching programme for young individuals
  • Learn how to manufacture experiences and use reflective questions as a coaching tool to extract learning from the young individual
  • Learn how to structure questions and inquiry to allow the young
    individual to express himself/herself in a life-coaching session
  • Learn how to listen to responses and thereafter structure the responses given by the young individual to set goals and momentum for the individual to achieve success (as defined by the individual)

7.5 hours (Excluding 60-minute lunch and two 15-minute tea breaks – In total 90mins)

Coaching Youths and Children Through Strengths (Day 2)

Course Overview

The course aims to train school trainers, coaches, teachers and educators to make the most of their natural talents to teach and coach students towards performance and achievement. Participants will be given an access code to take the CliftonStrengths (formerly StrengthsFinder) profiling assessment online to reveal what their innate talents and strengths are. 

Using key insights gleaned from 40 years of research by Gallup in the teaching and coaching of students, participants will be shown how to use the relevant Clifton StrengthsExplorer tool to motivate youths in their learning.

At the end of this course, the participants should be able to meet the following objectives:

  • Discover their innate talents and strengths through the Gallup CliftonStrengths (formerly StrengthsFinder) assessment
  • Understand the language of strengths in the field of positive psychology
  • Know why they are what they are
  • Know how to put their talents to work in their teaching and coaching of students
  • Know what make students tick and how to engage them effectively
  • Acquire a working knowledge and action items to start the journey of developing students’ talents into strengths

  • Knowledge of basic coaching competencies
  • Advanced competency in the English Language
  • Minimum pass in the GCSE ‘O’ or ‘N’ Level English
